I just signed up to follow your blog, which is something , but it seems that we have a common source of inspiration.
I’m an artist (painter mostly), currently in grad school in St. Louis, and my images are hugely inspired by cinema and apparel (I’m usually scheming for reasons to dress my figures in suits). I actually stumbled upon your site looking for references of braces, and was reminded of the amazing styling done in “There will be Blood.”
I must say that I totally appreciate your profile on “I am Love.” I don’t hear many people talk about it, so I haven’t really had the opportunity to express how gorgeous I thought it was, in every way. The film took me by surprise.
Another you may appreciate (though you’ve probably seen it) is the Italian/Sicilian film “Golden Door.” It came out in 2007/8 I believe. It’s an immigrant story involving a rural Sicilian family entering the US via Ellis Island. The cinematography and costumes are right up your alley. Charlotte Gainsbourg stars alongside of some really brilliant unknown Italian/Sicilian actors.
Anyway, I think I’ve already rambled on a bit too much, but keep up the good work!
Haven’t seen “The Golden Door,” will put it in the Netfilx queue. Love Charlotte G. I always thought if I were a painter I’d be inspired by John Ford, Bertolucci, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Kurosawa, Jane Campion. So many others, but those come immediately to mind.
